Still Sheltering Pets Displaced by Saskatchewan’s Wildfires

When wildfires swept through northern Saskatchewan in early June, the Saskatoon SPCA jumped into action—setting up emergency kennels, gathering supplies, and offering a safe haven to animals whose families were forced to evacuate. Months later, the crisis continues.

Dozens of Pets Still in Our Care
We are currently housing full kennels of dogs and cats whose families remain displaced. These animals are not up for adoption—their families will return for them as soon as they are able to find housing. In the meantime, we are providing everything they need: food, daily care, and veterinary support.

Hanson (pictured) is one of those animals. His family is among the many who fled their home with little more than their loved ones and their pets. They are incredibly grateful for the support Hanson is receiving while they work toward returning home.

The Cost of Compassion
The Saskatoon SPCA receives no government funding. Every bowl of food, every round of vaccines, and every warm bed provided to an evacuated pet is funded by donations from people like you. As this emergency stretches on, our resources are stretched thin—and we need your help.

Ways to Help

🐾 Drop Off Supplies – We’re still accepting unopened bags and cans of pet food, litter, and basic supplies. Drop them off at 2250 Hanselman Avenue or ship them directly from your favourite retailer.

Thank you for helping us keep families together—even when they’ve lost so much.
